How to set up a drift car, from the shop to the track |
|
Dudes, we aint got drifting up here, people have tried it and failed, so it not happening, so I was wondering if you lot could fill ne in on what to look for when purchasing a car for drifting, how to set it up, basic improvements to get it handling and anything else, I have noticed alot of you used electric brushed cars for this, I think we failed cause we used out nitro race cars. What about brushless set ups?, does anyone have a nitro drifter?. How do you weight the car, were do you set the cg, sway bar tension? spring tension, oil weights, tires, camber and toe, man so many questions running through my head.

Hey mate where you from? Nitro's can drift but arnt the best and need a lot of work and right tyres to set them up, to put it plain there just to heavy.
To build a drift car you need I good evenly weighted set up, any 4wd touring car is a good starting point, ad the sofest springs and oil you can find. Run 0 camber, any camber will only wear your tyres un evenly and have next to no effect on handling. Also make sure you have your tweek dailed.
As for motors most ppl these days run brushless, but it doesn't make that much differnce. If going brushed anything from 17-27t will be fine
Hope this helps
Cheers
Jay

I know this is old, but I've got an 11t brushes motor by HPI, thinking it was a good choice, is it?
If not, I've got $70 to spend, what motor should I get?

To be honest, I don't know. It's not the standard one..
Standard ESC was this wierd looking thing, got rid of it when I bought my first brushed motor almost a year ago..
I will take a look tonight, with a photo of my chassis, maybe you can help me turn it into a wicked drifter.
I've got the itches about it just thinking haha. Really want to get drifting again, I've had 2 short drifting sessions in a carpark near mine, can't get enough!
haha.
Keep in touch.
Jay, added you on msn? If that's cool.
Cheers.
